A little insight into the world of gun proving
Gun proof is the inspection, measurement, and firing of overpressure cartridges through a firearm to stress test the pressure baring components. This establishes the safety, reliabilty, and durability of the gun.
It is illigal to sell, or even to advertise or offer for sale, a firearm if it does not bare a valid proof mark.
A gun proof mark is an engraved or stamped image on a firearm. This image, unique to the Proof House, establishes that the gun has been proof tested.
Some proof marks symbolise the pressure of the cartridge suitable for use in that gun.
