SWIFT EXPERT SERVICE

We work closely with gun dealers to provide expert Proof, Reproof, Deactivation, and Certification services, ensuring every firearm meets the required safety and regulatory standards. At the London Proof House, we handle each gun with the utmost care and precision, applying centuries of expertise to guarantee compliance without compromise.

Gun Reproof

Reproof is often essential for firearms that have been altered or aged, ensuring they remain safe and legally compliant if offered for sale or exported.

Some modifications or material changes made to a pressure bearing parts of firearms, such as barrel adjustments or rechambering, can bring a gun out of proof, meaning it needs reproof and reproof marks to evidence this, before it can be sold.

Older guns may develop unseen weaknesses. Reproof checks the integrity and safety of old guns, preventing catastrophic failures and maintaining confidence in the firearm’s reliability and performance for the new owner.

Proper Deactivation

Proper firearm deactivation, in line with the latest UK and EU legislation, ensures guns are permanently inoperable and legally compliant to then sell as a deactivated firearm without the buyer needing a firearms licence.

The approved proof houses are the only bodies in the UK which can certify and stamp firearms as being deactivated. Compliance protects owners from legal issues and keeps firearms out of criminal circulation, enhancing public safety.

If you have deactivated a firearm, or wish to deactivate one, it is a legal requirement to have it certified as deactivated by the Proof House before it is sold. We can also arrange to deactivate firearms for you.

Importing & Exporting

Importing and exporting firearms into or out of the UK is a process requiring strict compliance with legislation. It involves obtaining the correct licenses, navigating customs regulations, and ensuring proof standards are met. All firearms must pass proof and have proof marks before export, or within a month of import.

Each imported firearm must be declared to the Proof Master and sent to the Proof House to be proof tested. Failure to comply can lead to severe penalties, making expert guidance essential for legal importation. Export of old firearms often requires reproof before they can be legally sold or exported – these should be checked to ensure legal compliance.

We are very lucky to have a proof house and proof laws such that we do in the UK. It means that new, or remanufactured, firearms are tested correctly and to correct specifications. Effectively proving the work we do as gun manufacturers is safe providing the end user is within the load parameters for the calibre.
